Volunteers

If you would like to come and help out in advance of Saturday's build, we are still in need of volunteers for Wenesday through Friday (especially for Wednesday morning June 10). The work will consist of assisting the welders and Belair equipment installers. Please contact Monique at tmonique@cabletv.on.ca are able to come. Work will start at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Playground Dedication - Our Fallen Hero

Special Olympics Canada is saddened to learn of the tragic loss of a dear friend who has made a considerable contribution to so many. Constable Robert Plunkett, an Ontario Officer with York Region Police Services, was a leader in both the community and to the Special Olympics organization. Constable Plunkett was involved with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for over 15 years and the 1997 World Winter Games. Through his long standing support of our organization he also served as the Chairman for the 2000 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Games. Through his leadership over $1 million was raised for the Special Olympic Games. In addition, as a result of his devotion and support the Law Enforcement Torch Run has grown significantly in Ontario raising funds and awareness for athletes with an intellectual disability. Our sincere sympathy and condolences go out to Constable Plunkett's wife and children. He will be dearly missed.

Colborne Background

Colborne Objectives

We hope that with the building of our playground, we will increase our parent participation. Furthermore, we aim to bring in families and parents within the community that are marginalized.

Colborne school wants the playground project to be a catalyst improving the community participation in all aspects of the school from helping kids read to serving hotdogs on Friday lunches to serving on a committee. We hope to have improved attendance at school council meetings to ensure parents know and are aware of what is happening to and for our youth.
